Guidelines for Newsletter Article Submissions

  • Content must reflect the mission of IMHCA and be relevant to the counseling profession and the thematic focus of the newsletter if there is one.
  • Work must be submitted as an email attachment in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format. All articles are to be typed in Times New Roman 12pt font.
  • If a piece has already been published elsewhere, please resubmit it as a synopsis or summary of the original piece. Submit at myimhca@gmail.com
  • All submissions will be acknowledged, however, we will only initiate further contact with an author if his or her article is chosen for publication.
  • Authors must provide accurate references for all data and information included in their article. We will not consider submissions that are not properly sourced.
  • Include photo(s) and a short biography (about 30 words) about the author(s).
  • The association reserves the right to edit work that has been accepted for publication. If changes are significant, they will be sent to the author for approval before publication.
  • Photos should be submitted as a separate attachment in high resolution JPEG format and given proper accreditation.
  • Photos/images/graphics submitted with your article, including the bio photo, should be as high quality as possible. Low quality photos, such as those that might be used on the internet, are too grainy for print. In addition you must have the legal right to use the photo. (Photos must be sent as a separate files, not embedded in the article.)
  • Articles should typically be no longer than two pages (roughly 700-800 words) including images
  • Late submissions cannot be accepted for consideration in the pending issue. However, we invite article submissions of a non-timely nature at any time for consideration in the next issue.
