Illinois Mental Health Counselors

INCLUDE LCPCs as Illinois Medicaid Providers

The Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) is proposing a change in federal rules to allow the billing of mental health services by
LCSW and Psychologists. This would be a fee-for-service system.

Any interested party may submit comments concerning these proposed changes in reimbursement methods and standards.  All comments must be submitted in writing by January 1, 2017.

They state “this is an ongoing effort to provide access to care and quality services.”

We need ALL counselors to take action.
Write a note and send in U.S. Mail or email in your own words. Short or long. If you have had to
turn away Medicaid clients or restrict services to those on Medicaid please mention that.

IMHCA wants 1,000’s of responses.

If you are a LCPC, LPC or graduate student- NOW is the time to step up and ACT.

Don’t let LCPCs be left out.

A short email in your words that LCPCs should be included as a service provider is good.  More comments about
the academic training of counselors, the accessibility of LCPCS (there are 7,110 LCPC residing in Illinois, 4,443 psychologists),
that LCPCs training focuses on “counseling”, restraint of trade or any other comments in your words would be great.
